A project to build 6 luxury treehouses in woodland belonging to the Elmore Estate in Stroud District is taking shape.
It’s almost a year since we were involved in an exciting project to secure planning permission for our clients for six woodland treehouses in Stroud District. We’re thrilled to see work progressing in the grounds of Grade II* listed Elmore Court.
As part of their ambitious rewilding project the team at the Elmore Estate wanted a way to grow their business offering that was also integral to their ‘green plans’ for the land. Sustainability is at the centre of the build plans with the potential for a net carbon zero build.
We worked proactively with the planning officer at Stroud District, throughout the application process. This meant that pre-commencement conditions were minimal, and work started on the site in early 2022. The client also engaged with the local community prior to the submission of the application. Engagement included a public consultation and a presentation to the Parish Council.
Our application justified the principle of additional guest accommodation in the countryside, specifically where associated with the growth of the existing business. Rural business growth is encouraged and supported by both the NPPF and the adopted Stroud Local Plan. We also worked alongside other consultants to demonstrate the development, as a result of its carefully considered design, will not have any detrimental impact on the landscape, existing trees, biodiversity or result in any flood risk.
Full details about the services we provided for Elmore Court can be found here.
