Plaza Planning Permission at The Quadrangle

Working with AWW Architects and our wider consultant team, SF Planning Limited have secured a resolution to grant planning permission from Cheltenham Borough Council Planning Committee on the 19th September 2019 for public realm improvements around the Quadrangle and Imperial Square Gardens in Cheltenham.

Our involvement as the appointed planning consultant for the proposed development has included key stakeholder consultation, prior to the submission of the application, as well as facilitating positive pre-application discussion with Cheltenham Borough Council who welcomed the scheme from an early stage.

The project involves significant improvements to the external areas around the Quadrangle itself, particularly where it adjoins Imperial Square Gardens and includes new public exhibition facilities, including a a permanent home for the annual “Art in the Park” exhibition. The scheme also includes an new external seating area for the ground floor commercial units within the Quadrangle and significant new tree planting and other high quality soft landscaping to improve this neglected part of the gardens.

Councillors commended the scheme and commented they were really excited by these plans to enhance the town centre.

The works comprise of phase 2 of the project, with SF Planning having already helped achieve planning permission for the major refurbishment of the building itself for our Client in 2018. Work is about to start on site and we look forward to seeing progress on this prominent town centre site in Cheltenham, adjacent to one of its most historic public gardens.
