In conjunction with Millar Howard Workshop, we were delighted to secure planning permission for a replacement dwelling in Chiddingford, Surrey. A comprehensive planning application was put together as the site is located within the Green Belt, Surrey Hills AONB and adjoins Ancient Woodland.
The site currently comprises a two storey dwelling with an assortment of outbuildings. Planning permission was sought for the demolition of the existing buildings on site and the erection of a contemporary replacement family home. The dwelling was designed to reflect the local vernacular and rural character of the area whilst minimising any impact on the Green Belt and the landscape setting of the AONB.
Although the replacement dwelling had a larger floor area than the existing dwelling and was considered by the planning officers to comprise inappropriate development within the Green Belt, we were successful in arguing that ‘very special circumstances’ existed as a number of outbuildings would be removed in order to off-set the additional floor area. Waverley Council agreed and planning permission was granted. A great result all round!
