Working for our client Vastint Hospitality for their new 7 storey Moxy Hotel in Bristol, and very ably supported by AFA project managers, Cumming and Co Architects, Elaine Milton Heritage Planning, Baltic Signs, and Strenger, SFP are chuffed to have secured on appeal advertisement consent for illuminated signs. These are a fundamental part of the high quality design, the business branding and the overall lighting strategy, as shown in the images, and therefore crucial to the visual success of the development.
Bristol City Council had refused consent due to the impact on heritage assets – the adjoining conservation area and the nearby Grade I Listed St Paul’s Church.
The Inspector agreed with us. The location on the busy Newfoundland Circus, in the context of other lighting such as Cabot Circus Car Park, meant the adverts would not be visually intrusive and would not harm heritage assets.
We look forward to seeing the hotel progress and the finished development in due course, on this important gateway approach to the City centre from the north.
