SF Planning achieved planning permission and advertisement consent in June 2017 from the London Borough of Camden to enable Lola’s Bakery to open its first premises in London on West End Lane, West Hampstead.
Conversion to mixed café & retail use
WEST HAMPSTEAD, LONDON
Project
OVERVIEW
The property was located within a Core Shopping Frontage within the West Hampstead Town Centre and West End Green Conservation Area. SFP justified the scheme, which includes a mix of retail (Class A1) and restaurant (Class A3), in light of national planning policy which supports a mix of uses within town centres. This was despite Camden’s more restrictive policy which seeks to retain retail uses in this area. The scheme also involved improvements to the shopfront to enhance the conservation area along with external seating to add to the vibrancy of the street.
The proposals have enabled the previously vacant unit to be brought back into use with an active frontage and retail display to enhance the role of the unit within this part of West Hampstead town centre.
