On behalf of Kier Construction SF Planning Limited has submitted planning applications for the development of a new headquarters office building at Cheltenham Office Park, Hatherley Lane; along with the redevelopment of Kier’s existing premises on Leckhampton Road for residential purposes.

Working alongside property agents Peace Pennels, architects Roberts Limbrick Associates for the new office HQ and architects Coombes:Everitt for the residential proposals at Kier’s existing site, SF Planning has made the applications to Cheltenham Borough Council to run in tandem; with the residential proposals for Leckhampton Road being seen as the mechanism to help achieve the new purpose built headquarters at Cheltenham Office Park and maintain the profile of Kier within the town.

Kier are a major local employer in the construction industry and have been at their site in Leckhampton for many years. The buildings and premises are outdated, the site is surrounded by existing residential properties on three sides and access through the local residential streets is not ideal. The sensitive redevelopment for residential purposes is therefore a logical solution and will remove the existing somewhat non-conforming use.

The new headquarters will provide much needed modern office facilities for the company at a more appropriate location. Kier will carry out the development of the high quality commercial scheme themselves, with their new premises in turn acting as a showcase for their award winning construction skills.
